ATI Inc. (ATI - Free Report) remains focused on enhancing shareholder value by strengthening and sustaining its cash flow generation. It reported first-half 2026 adjusted free cash flow of $143.2 million against a $50.2 million cash outflow a year ago.

ATI is taking steps to reduce seasonality and improve the consistency of its cash flows. Strong free cash flow generation is being supported by higher adjusted EBITDA and improved operating performance, with healthy aerospace and defense demand expected to sustain cash generation. The company lifted its full-year 2026 adjusted free cash flow forecast to $550-$600 million from the earlier range of $465-$525 million.

Debt reduction, aided by stronger margins and improved cash flows, is enhancing ATI’s financial flexibility. The company also remains committed to returning capital to its shareholders through share repurchases, supported by disciplined and strategic capital allocation.

ATI considers buybacks the most efficient way to return capital to shareholders. It returned $470 million to its shareholders in 2025 in the form of share repurchases. Following the $50 million repurchase in the second quarter, ATI has $495 million remaining under its current buyback authorization.

Among its major peers, Carpenter Technology Corporation (CRS - Free Report) generated a higher adjusted free cash flow of $362.3 million for fiscal 2026 compared with $287.5 million in fiscal 2025. The improvements in product mix, higher realized prices and expanded operating efficiencies support the expansion. For fiscal 2027, Carpenter Technology expects to generate free cash flow in the range of $400 million to $430 million.

Howmet Aerospace Inc. (HWM - Free Report) recorded free cash flow of roughly $838 million for the first six months of 2026, up from the previous-year period’s $478 million. This upside was backed by strong growth in the commercial aerospace, defense aerospace and gas turbines markets. Howmet expects full-year 2026 free cash flow to be in the range of $1,850-$1,950 million.
